DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid) is a chemical molecule that in living organisms contains the instructions on how to build the organism, i.e. its genetic code (something akin a «recipe»). It is present in all organisms we know, except for some viruses that only have RNA (a similar but simpler molecule).
As a rule, DNA creates RNA, RNA creates proteins and proteins create the organisms themselves.
