Art is freedom, and freedom is art.
Throughout mankind's history, we have always enjoyed the labour that comes with making artwork. It is an enjoyable process to imagine something in your mind's eye and then make it come to life, be it a painting, a song, a drawing, a poem, a book, or anything else. Humans are creatives; even billions of years ago when we were still hunter-gatherers and needed to kill to survive, we still actively took the time in making art with the limited tools that we had.
But still, humans are not unique in making art; other animals (yes, we are animals, albeit ones who think we're intelligent because we have digital watches and money) like elephants and monkeys have been known to make art when the opportunity arises, but this is seemingly in unique situations such as in zoos and less so in nature.
But why, oh why, do we make art? Because it's in our DNA! Dogs bark, cats meow, and man creates. Not everything needs a complex answer. Ask a dog why they chase a thrown ball. Because it's fun. Art is simply a fun thing that we can do to brighten up our world; it's not complex or a mystery that needs solving.
It is one of the greatest things to do, and even in the far future, we will still be making art simply for the love of it.

The tools needed to make virtual art, music, or even something like a play are all very commonplace; almost anything can be used, from an office pen to sticks and leaves. Thanks to this, the entry level of being able to make artwork is very low; this means that basically every person has the tools needed to make and learn how to express themselves in art.
Microsoft Windows, the most successful operating system, comes pre-installed with MS Paint, a simple and fast program to pick up and use, something that can be a lot of fun to both doodle on and to spend hours drawing something amazing on. This is just one example of the low entry needed to make art.
Office tools are another great tool; pens, pencils, and paper are very cheap and can be found in almost any shop. If you're in active education, these are basically free to obtain.
Finding resources for how to make art is effortless. Your local library will have books on how to make art, and besides that, you could look for art books in second-hand shops and online.
Despite their age, What To Draw And How To Draw It and Drawing Made Easy, both from the early 1900s, seem to be good guides on how to make simple drawings.
