# Hasty Pudding

My favourite pudding:

# Ingredients

• Milk one pint.
• Flour 1 1/2 table-spoonfuls.
• Sugar 1/2 teaspoonful.

# Directions

Boil the milk. Mix the flour with a little cold milk. Pour the boiling milk onto this and put all back into the saucepan. Let it boil up once more and it is ready. Serve at once.

This recipe was written by Constance Lytton (1869 - 1923; Q6470046 on Wikidata).

Lytton was a Suffrage in her native UK and thought it was true that there shoudl be prison reform, votes for women, and birth control - she went on hunger strike while in imprisoned, being force fed. As a way to stop her from getting special treatment, she went under the fake name of Jane Warton - she opted for this pseudonym as her father, Robert Bulwer-Lytton (Q335493) was the 1st Earl of Lytton and a politician and her mother, Edith Bulwer-Lytton (Q3719243) was the Countess of Lytton.

Despite her aid to the cause of giving women the right to vote, Constance Lytton would die at age 54 due to a heart attack and stroke - attributed, in part to, her trauma from hunger strike and force feeding.
