In many remote areas or during travel, outages, or just intentional disconnection, you may find that there are times when you have little to no Internet access. Of course, our ancestors somehow all managed to make it their whole lives without this technology, but being without it now in the 21st century can be frustrating.
This page serves as advice on what to do when you are without internet.
Firstly, public libraries are a great resource for getting access to the Internet, although you will be kicked out if you try and spend the whole night in one. But with just a USB, you'll be set.
There are countless games that you can play without having access to the Internet. Freedoom, SuperTux, LibreQuake are just a few examples of free and open-source computer games that can be run on most devices.
Of course, there are also proprietary games that you can enjoy. Minecraft requires no connection at all and can be enjoyed for hours.
Kiwix is a very useful app that you can use on most of your devices; it allows you to download an offline version of a website and view it later.
We recommend downloading Wikipedia, Project Gutenberg.
It is also possible to download whole sites via
wget.
For videos, using yt-dlp is a must and is elementary, allowing you to download YouTube videos (as well as from other sites) in seconds. The Internet Archive is also another good resource for media, and so is Wikimedia Commons (a Wikipedia sister project).
Yeah, don't want to sound like an old person, but there's a lot to do outside just waiting for you to enjoy.
Why not? Painting and making art is very accessible to most, if not all, people. The tools needed to make anything remotely good are very low.
On a computer, you probably have some form of art program; Microsoft Windows has MS Paint, Mac has... Sometimes, find out, and if you're on Linux, your distro may or may not have something installed already (Pinta is basic but understandable, GIMP is also good, just search up online and see what is best for you).
But even still, you most definitely don't need a computer to make art. Pencil and paper is an option. Just anything basic will work.
Think about it this way: our ancestors billions of years ago had all but nothing, but they still painted on walls with their hands. If they can do that, you can enjoy the relaxing experience of making something.
:^)Writing down all you know into a basic wiki is surprisingly fun and relaxing; we all know something worth sharing. Might as well try it at least once.
